History:
The Game of Authors is an educational game for three to five players. The Game of Authors was first made by G.M. Whipple Smith of Salem, Massachusetts, in 1861. The Game of Authors was first published in 1897 by the Parker Brothers, an American toy company, which was also in Salem, Massachusetts.
How to Play:
A dealer is selected at random, and the at each round, a new dealer is chosen.
Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player asks a card they want by rank and suit. If the other person has the card, they need to give the card over.
The player’s turn continues so long as the player gets the card that was asked for. If not, the turn goes to the left. As soon as a player has four cards of the same rank, he lays them face down. The game goes on until all cards have been laid down.
