History:
Liberty Stone Blocks were a product of the Phoenix Toy Company based in Milwaukee, MN. These blocks were a variation of the original Richter’s Anker Stone Building Sets from Germany. Friedrich Frobel coined the term “Kindergarten” in 1840 when studying the educational development of very young children, and he included using blocks in his curriculum. Calling them “Liberty” stones was a direct attempt at replacing the German based company during the era leading up to World War I. Stone blocks can be traced as the inspiration for Legos, and today the video game Minecraft still uses the same basic principles.
How To Play:
Sets came with different quantities of blocks made up of different colors and shapes. Packages often contained instructions for potential structures users could build. Build whatever you can dream up!
