A WWI Program Focusing on Women's Contribution to the War and the Connection to the Women's Suffrage Movement
The Fashion Archives and Museum invites students and teachers to explore World War I through costume and primary sources. As you view the garments, ponder who wore these outfits. What were they doing when they wore them? Who made these clothes? Where were they made? What were the conditions like for the people who made these uniforms? How did women’s clothing design change during World War I, and why? The men and women of World War I will gain dimension and meaning as you explore the costumes, photographs, and primary sources in this educational and entertaining interactive program. We hope you enjoy and are inspired to visit the Fashion Archives and Museum of Shippensburg University to learn more about fashion, culture, society, and history.
